Do I need WiFi or home internet for it to work?
No. The home gateway connects over LTE, so it works even without home internet.
How will I be notified if something happens?
By phone call and SMS to the contacts you've designated. Delivery depends on the mobile network and on the contact details being correct and reachable.
Does the person wearing ALVIA need a smartphone?
No. The device works entirely through the home gateway.
How long does the battery last?
4 to 6 months, depending on use.
Is it a subscription?
Yes, a monthly subscription that includes the bracelet, home gateway and cloud service.
What happens if it triggers by accident?
There's a process to cancel the alert in case of a false alarm.
Can I check on how they're doing myself?
Yes, you can check their status anytime through the platform.
Is it suitable for someone with a pacemaker?
ALVIA uses low-power wireless technology. People with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices should nevertheless follow the safety instructions provided by the manufacturer of their medical device and, where appropriate, consult their healthcare professional.
Is it suitable for people with dementia?
It can help: you are alerted when the bracelet loses its connection to the home gateway, which can be a sign the person has left home. It is not a tracker — ALVIA does not use GPS and cannot tell you where the person is.
Does it work outside the house?
ALVIA is designed for the home. It is designed to cover typical homes of up to approximately 150 m², and can be extended with an additional gateway. Actual wireless range depends on the layout of the home, walls, building materials, interference and local radio conditions. Outside the gateway's range the bracelet is not connected, and that disconnection can itself raise an alert.
